As a father of six and a partner of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt has learned to protect his brood.

So when a Rolling Stone reporter asks him in their January issue about reports that Jolie, 33, manipulates press about the Jolie-Pitt clan, he goes on the defensive.

"[The New York Times reports] are talking about not only the woman I love, but one of the people on this planet who I have the greatest respect for," says Pitt, 44. "I think she's as honorable as anyone I've ever met."

He adds that the article in question "made Angie out to be manipulative in some way. And he's totally missing the point. She is savvy."

The actor, who stars in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, out on Christmas Day, says making a film centered around the theme of mortality has had a positive effect on his and Jolie's relationship. "Angie and I do not fight anymore. If we have a flare-up, it evaporates now," he says

Pitt jokes that his previous film Burn After Reading didn't have such a wondrous effect for the pair: "She saw me in the gym gear and said, 'This is the first time I can honestly say I'm not attracted to you whatsoever.'"

Globetrotters Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their brood are putting down roots at the French chateau where they shacked up for the birth of twins Knox and Vivienne, Us magazine reports.

They're still renting the 880-acre estate, which includes vineyards, olive groves and a lake, but Pitt, a design buff, is doing some renovations with an eye to buying Chateau Miraval eventually. The family has traveled the globe together, spending time recently in Germany, where Pitt was filming "Inglorious Basterds."

Until recently the couple had considered New Orleans their home, but Pitt says they're settling in France "because the kids can run free there, we have a good relationship with the locals, and it's a good base."

Pitt is investing $12.9 million to refurbish the home, including a 400-square-foot master bedroom, an indoor pool and a new wing, which will bring the bedroom count to some 35. (Guess the couple plans to keep busy on that front.) A source tells the magazine that work will start in January: "Brad will be using many local workers because it's a good way of giving back to the community."

Actress Angelina Jolie may be spending some quality time with a former James Bond. Moviehole reports the actress has been handed the chance to appear opposite Pierce Brosnan in the sequel to "The Thomas Crown Affair," a film and character once described as "like Bruce Wayne without the nervous breakdown at the age of eight." The film has been in development limbo for a while, though plans have been in place for a while to remake classic Peter Ustinov vehicle "Topkapi."

In an interview a few months ago, Brosnan said, "(Topkapi) is much loved by people who love that genre of film, and it has a sentimental resonance to it.
So we just took 'Thomas Crown' off the shelf, kind of dusted it off, and took 'Topkapi,' which is much loved, and is also in the canon of the MGM library, so it didn't cost us anything. This version of 'Topkapi' will have a different part, different woman, and different affair... and we're using wonderful locations."

Jolie is best known to genre fans from her role as Lara Croft. She can be seen in theatres currently in "A Mighty Heart," a dramatization of the murder of journalist Daniel Pearl and the effects on his family. Jolie's personal life is also well-known; last month, the actress announced she was taking a break from Hollywood to focus on her family, so the effect of this announcement on her involvement in "The Topkapi Affair" can only be guessed at this point.

When she died, Angelina Jolie's mother was still owed $180,000 in spousal payments from ex-husband Jon Voight, according to her will.

Marcheline Bertrand, 56, lost a battle with ovarian cancer on Jan. 27. An aspiring actress, Bertrand met Voight just after his Oscar nomination for 1969's Midnight Cowboy. They married in 1971, but Bertrand filed for divorce seven years later. They had two children.

Details of Bertrand's will surfaced in a legal filing entered in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 10.

The will also reveals Bertrand was a doting grandmother, having left $100,000 to her "beloved grandson" Maddox. It was updated with a note to "add Zahara and the new little precious one," leaving them $100,000 each.

With her estate worth more than $2 million, Bertrand requested that Jolie and her older brother James be co-executors of her will, with the bulk of her assets going to both children.

Voight wasn't available for comment. A longtime friend of his tells PEOPLE: "Jon paid spousal support to (Marcheline) years ago and was very generous to her. Where that dollar amount came from I have no idea."

Kidnappers reportedly planned to snatch Pax Jolie from his new mum Angelina Jolie when the pair arrived back in the US last week and hold the three year old to ransom for $100million.
Life & Style magazine is reporting that there was a “meticulously planned” plot decided to coincide with Pax’s arrival in the US from his native Vietnam. The magazine claims the gang responsible are experienced in executing kidnapping and extortion crimes and “are highly skilled operatives with little regard for human life”.

An inside source claiming to be close to the family’s security team told the magazine that the family have faced such threats before but this one was deemed to be particularly “credible and serious”.

The source said Brad Pitt heard about the threat from the security team while Angelina was in Vietnam finalising Pax’s adoption: “The life drained out of Brad when he heard [about the threat]. He was a wreck.”

“He didn’t want to tell Angie the extent of the threat, especially not until she returned stateside. But he had no choice. She needed to know so she could take the necessary precautions.”

No details are known of the ceremony, except that the children that they have adopted from 167 different countries all served as bridesmaids, groomsmen, best man, maid of honor, flower girls, ring bearers, and ushers.

There is only one detail about the wedding that has come to light: the Catholic Priest who officiated had to be restrained from greeting all of the male children with "inappropriate affection."

"Brangelina" have said that they planned to marry to be able to finalize adoptions in countries that will not adopt to single parents. This has cleared the way for them to adopt one child from almost each of the world's remaining countries.

The only remaining holdout to their adoption plans is Vatican City, with a birthrate of zero for the past 27 years (the one exception being a tourist who went into labor and had her baby in the back of an ambulance). Brad has expressed a desire to adopt any adult priest or nun, or someone of higher rank, whose parents are dead (up to and including the Pope), but has had no takers thus far.

The couple and their growing brood of children have purchased the old Brady Bunch home in Southern California as it seemed "the perfect spot to raise our family."

Time Magazine has a great article up about Angelina Jolie and her latest adoption. There’s not a whole lot in there that’s news to us but it’s still a good read. They do have some background info on Pax’s life to date.

It mentions how Pax was only one month old when he was abandoned by his mother at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, leaving after his birth. For 30 days, the hospital put up notices and searched for his mother, then they placed him in the orphanage while police still attempted to find his birth parents.

The article outlines an interesting Vietnamese custom of naming children:

The child was known at the orphanage as Pham Quang Sang. Pham is a fairly common family name in Vietnam; the second two given names together mean “bright light.” No one at the orphanage seemed to know for sure — the name was on his file when he arrived at the orphanage — but the name may be the only thing his birth mother left to him. It is standard practice for Vietnamese hospitals to require women in labor to provide proposed names for the child, one for a boy and a second for a girl, in case the mother dies in childbirth. The practice is a legacy of the hard years of famine and poverty after the war when women more often died in childbirth.

Angelina entered the picture, applying through an international adoption agency to Vietnam, searching for a healthy boy between the ages of 3 and 5 - it turns out Pax was the one and only boy at that orphanage who fit the request, because although there were 31 other boys within that age range they were either unhealthy or they still had relatives (presumably they would have been put in the orphanage due to hard times in the hopes that they could return to their family some day). The article says that Vietnam’s national adoption director had ten files for boys for Angie’s request, from various orphanages.

Apparently only 30% of the children at Tam Binh actually get placed; in fact of all the children in the photo from the orphanage, only Pax was set for adoption.

Pax is off for a better life but he will be very missed by Bui Thi Bach Tuyen, his primary caregiver at the orphanage for the past 18 months. She was quoted:

“He was here, and now he’s gone,” she says sadly. “I’m very happy for him. I miss him and so I am sad — but we have other children to take care of.” She adds, “Everyone is sad since he’s left,” Tuyen says. “We have mixed feelings — happy, proud of him, missing him.”

She said, however, she wasn’t worried about how he will adjust to a new style of food in America because he already eats some Western foods like yogurt and spaghetti.

For the first three years, according to Vietnam’s adoption laws, Angie will have to send reports every six months to keep them up to date on his physical health, mental development, and his general life such as hobbies.

Ho Thi Kim Thoa who helps run the orphanage said this about Angelina Jolie:

“I think she’ll be a good mother to him. She already has experience.”

Universal Pictures has set Angelina Jolie to star alongside James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman in Wanted, the graphic novel adaptation to be directed by Timur Bekmambetov. The movie will be Jolie's next, with shooting to begin in Eastern Europe in May.

McAvoy will play a young man who discovers his father is an assassin, only to learn shortly thereafter that his dad has been murdered. The youth is drafted to follow in his father's footsteps. Jolie will play an assassin who teaches the ropes to the wannabe killer.

The script was originated by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, and Jolie took the role after a rewrite by Dean Georgaris (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life) to tailor the character for her.

Marc Platt, Jim Lemley, Jason Netter and Iain Smith will produce.

The deal marks the second recent Universal commitment for Jolie, who'll star this fall for director Clint Eastwood in drama The Changeling, to be produced by Imagine Entertainment partners Brian Grazer and Ron Howard and Malpaso's Rob Lorenz.

Jolie and her five-year-old son arrived at the Tam Binh orphanage outside Ho Chi Minh City, where the actress' new son has spent the last three years, earlier today after flying into Vietnam late on Wednesday.

Mother and Maddox were greeted by approximately 20 children dressed in traditional Vietnamese tunics and offering flowers as they embarked on the final stages of the adoption procedure.

Orphanage director Nguyen Van Trung insists Jolie has made a wise choice in the three-and-a-half-year-old boy, whose name has been changed from Pham Quang Sang to Pax Thien by the actress.

Van Trung says, "He's the smartest and cleverest among the kids." But the adoption almost hit a late hiccup, according to the orphanage boss: "I was a bit worried in the morning. When Sang saw Jolie and two of her big bodyguards, he moved back and cried. Jolie kneeled down and gradually went closer to him. It took about 20 minutes for her to reach him."

Van Trung added that "after Jolie made acquaintance with him, he cheered up and trusted her right away".

Maddox also attempted to soothe his new brother by holding his hand. The orphanage director adds, "He was very friendly to Sang."

Miss Jolie is currently a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Jolie is involved in many humanitarian projects catapulted by her movie role in "Beyond Borders" Angelina also wrote and has published a book called "Notes from My Travels," donating all profits to U.N.H.C.R.

Angelina Jolie is the daughter of actor, Jon Voight and the late model, MarchelineBertrand. She was born in Los Angeles, California. Jolie also has a brother James Haven Voight. There have been many issues keeping father Voight and daughter apart over the years. The two lately have made some attempt at a reconciliation.

'The Good Shepherd actress - who won an Academy Award in 1999 for her supporting role in 'Girl, Interrupted' - insists she doesn't judge her success on prizes.

She said: "I learned a long time ago not to count your work by awards. The films I got awards for, I didn't work any harder on than the ones I didn't."

Angelina, 31, has also revealed she gave away her Oscar statuette soon after she won it.

She said: "I haven't seen it since I gave it to my mom. I think it's in a box somewhere. But I think it meant a lot to give it to her."

Angelina Jolie took her Goodwill Ambassadorship to New Orleans today, making the beleaguered city more beautiful just by being there.

She watched the Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday parade from the balcony of her French Quarter mansion. As costumed people walked down her street, Jolie pointed out her favorite outfits to kids Zahara and Maddox. When one man walked down the street dressed as an Oscar, Jolie yelled down at him, “That’s adorable!”

Chris Cudddihee, the walking Oscar, yelled back up to her “I'm for you, Angelina!”

Cuddihee, a manager of a clothing store in town, tells Usmagazine.com, “We happened to be walking down and we saw her open a door. I could tell it was a movie star arm coming out of there and she brought the kids out and she waved to us. I waved and I said, 'Hey you won me!’”

Cuddihee added, “That is why I wore this outfit and that made my day. We weren’t expecting to see Angelina Jolie today. Or to see Zahara and Maddox wave at us. It was pretty cool.”

Paul Broussad, a kitchen and bath designer, Cuddihee’s boyfriend who was dressed in a tuxedo to escort his “Oscar” tells Usmagazine.com, “It’s great that they are here. It’s nice to have a little glamour in this city.”

Pitt and Jolie To Adopt Child from Vietnam?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have filed paperwork to adopt a boy from Vietnam, according to press reports.

The pair have three children -- Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 9 months.

A source in Vietnam tells US Weekly the couple have filed papers with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services to adopt a boy from the Tam Binh orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City, which they visited in November.

The pair have long been vocal about their desire to raise more international children.

Their son Maddox was born in Cambodia, while daughter Zahara was born in Ethiopia.

Jolie said recently, "If we're going to have 10 kids, we'd like to raise them while we're young."

Scarlett Johansson has topped Playboy Magazine's annual 25 Sexiest Celebrities list. The 22-year-old actress' "sensuality" and "beauty" saw off stiff competition from Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé Knowles and Pamela Anderson. Jennifer Aniston didn't even make the list.
